Currently, I've 3 nbu master server(windows) with different domain(7.0, 7.1, 7.1)

I've planing to consolidate them and will be a Master server(unix server) with 7.6 version.

1. I needs upgrade nbu client(unix) that connected to existing master server then connect to new master server.

How to upgrade nbu client(unix)?  Is there upgrade shell script like install script(./install)? or Uninstall then new install?

2. How to restore tape that already backed up from exiting master server to new master server?

As per my post above - if you do not merge the masters, you will need to import tapes one-by-one.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH43584

If you do not merge and do not keep old masters around to browse for images and find which tape contains the images, you will have a hard time figuring out which tape(s) to import.

Careful when adding tapes from other environment to new server!
NBU will not know about the data on tape and add tape as new, unassigned, available.

Best to create a different pool (e.g. RESTORE) and add these tapes to this new pool that will never be used for backups.

Merging masters is NOT a DIY job. You will need a Symantec Consulting Partner to assist.

How to migrate the NetBackup catalog information from one platform to another (UNIX to Windows or vice versa), rename a Master Server, cluster an existing Master Server, or merge multiple NetBackup domains.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH31385

You alternative is to import tapes one-by-one on the new server.

About upgrading Linux clients -
yes, simply run the install script in the new version. It will remove old software and install the new. Remember to check Compatibility. http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76648

And/or, logically 'create' the media on the target NetBackup domain BEFORE you inventory media - in case there is a pre-existing barcode rule which will automatically assign (what the target NetBackup server believes are) new media to the scratch pool when you inventory the robot containing the media from the source NetBackup domain.

And/or, write protect the media to be imported - so that they can never be overwritten accidentally.

And/or, implement a new barcode rule to assign media from source NetBackup domains to the new 'RESTORE' pool on the target NetBackup domain.
