Database [NBDB] can't be rebuilt.

Unable to create/upgrade the NB database.  Refer to the
log file in /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/nbdb for more
information.  Rerun /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/install_bp
when the problem has been resolved.

See this section in the Upgrade Portal: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH74584

3.    The install script will after having installed updated Sybase 11 binaries and before upgrading the existing Sybase 9 Database and database schema, make a backup copy of  the database and place this in the staging directory. This backup copy will remain in the staging directory until the first Hot Online Catalog backup is successfully run of the new NetBackup 7 installation. This backup copy can be used to fall back on should a failure occur at any point during the database upgrade.

See attached the log file from /usr/openv/netbackup/logs/nbdb (log.020911).

from the /usr/openv/db/log/server.log i get this message:  Database cannot be started -- /usr/openv/db/data/NBDB.db was created by a different version of the software. You must rebuild this database in order to use it  with SQL Anywhere 11.

Another thought :

Ensure that a localhost entry exists in the /etc/hosts file as follows:
127.0.0.1 localhost

as well as an entry for the master server itself.

Other than that - it will possibly be best to log a call with Symantec.

That entry is already in the /etc/hosts file.

i will log a call with Symantec and let you know how it goes.
