NBU use of domain admin rights

manatee
Level 6

NBU 7.6.0.3

does NBU really require a domain admin account in a Windows environment? i found i have one such account named "netbackup" who is a member of the domain admin group. NBU couldn't settle for a local admin account in each computer?

Hello,

NetBackup operation does not need domain account generally. It's services run under Local Systems.

There are a few exceptions, follow appropriate Admin Guides for details:

- granular backup/restore of Active Directory/MS Exchange

- MS Sharepoint backups, both granular an non-granular

- Enterprise Vault backups

- Oracle/MS SQL backups via Intelligent Policies (however LOcal System can be used here, too)

(Maybe the list is not complete)

Regards

Michal

And in addition to previous post, it does not need to be "Domain Admin", just domain-based account with admin rights to appropriate systems.
