NBU7.1.0.1 Tape drives not ready

SylvainM
Not applicable

I have installed NBU  7.1.0.1 on a Win2008R2 (IBM x3650 M2)

Card Qlogic 2460

Library IBM 3584

2 Tape drives IBM ULT3580-TD3

all drivers and firmware are up to date.

I can querry the tape drives with the IBM information tool, but in netbackup when I make a Drive Diag I always get "Unable to allocate resources for diagnostics"

I'm on it since 3 days, I can't find anything, may be i'm too close from the tree.

help please :)

Which tape drivers have you installed?

Please see the following in the Device Compatibility Guide:

If using the IBM Windows Tape Device Drivers be sure to choose the install_nonexclusive.exe executable. This option permits a tape drive to be accessed by multiple processes on a Media Server, which is a requirement for NetBackup.
NetBackup requires the IBM Data Path Failover feature to be disabled on the IBM tape device driver. To disable this feature, open the reg folder of the IBM driver package, double-click DisableDPF.reg, and reboot the system.
- IBMTape driver level 6.1.9.5 tested on Windows

Have you added the devices yet using the Device Config Wizard?
