NDMP Backup Policy Need to Splitted

Team,

I have the Netbackup 7.1 version with Windows 2003 OS. I am trying to split the NDMP policy which is 32TB in size and any single network drop the backup is failing. I would like to split the policy into multiple streams using Wild Characters.

I have Netapp Ontap version 8.2.3P6.

What is the best method of splittin the data when I have a single volume which is like this :

/vol/vol13

Under vol13 I have multiple folders which I want to split into further. I am aware that if I split with the complete path it will get success. I want to split in this way : /vol/vol13/projects/eclipse_data/a*

/vol/vol13/projects/eclipse_data/b*

Can we split in that way? Is it possible?

Regards

KVK.

Your NBU version is too old.

To use wildcard in NDMP backup selection, you need to upgrade to at least 7.6. This is from NBU-NDMP admin guide http://www.veritas.com/docs/000003716

Note: To use wildcard characters in NDMP policy backup selections, both your master server and the media servers on which NetBackup for NDMP is installed must run NetBackup 7.6 or later. Wildcard characters are not supported in releases of NetBackup before Version 7.6.

Having said that, 7.6 is also end-of-support, so you should go to 7.7: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000116667

Technically you should be able to backup the way you want (as per the directories you mentioned) but it's better to backup at the volume level. I don't think so your entire volume would be 32 TB, so check with your NAS admin if you are not sure how many volumes you are actually backing and split the backup at the voulme level.

@Tape_Archivedthere is only one volume ie /vol/vol_13. If I have the volume splitted then I would definetly go for volume level streaming, hope you understood.
