NDMP STU creation fails

NBU35

Hi

master NBU 7.1.0.4, media 6.5.6 , OS Solaris 10 on both.

we had one of our tape drive zoned to one of netapp1 and created NDMP STU for that media server.

Now we have removed this tape drive from that netapp1 and zoned it on another netapp i.e netapp2.

we have reconfigured that tape drive as NDMP tape drive for new NDMP server and its reconfigured successfully.

but then we tried to configure NDMP STU for netapp2, its failing with error "please select valid NDMP host".

How ever tapautoconf -probe & -verify is working perfectly fine from master and media for this NDMP server.

we are able to create STU by command, but when we open it and try to save it again from GUI, we recive same error.

we are able to create NDMP STU for all netapps except this one. Also credentials are added for this NDMP host in master server.

this host is registered in EMM DB as NDMP host, tried by restarting NBU services on master and media server.

Please suggest on this.

Where was tape drive config for new NDMP server done?

Did you delete drive from NBU config for netapp1 and added it to netapp2?
Was NBU restarted on media server after device config update?

Only if Device Config shows correct config will you be able to create new STU.

PS: PLEASE upgrade NBU on your media server? NDMP binaries are included in 7.x media server installation.

Currently defined robotics are:
TLD(0)     robot control host = Master
TLD(1)     robot control host = Master
TLD(2)     robot control host = Master

EMM Server = Master

it was configured on media server via command line

Did you delete drive from NBU config for netapp1 and added it to netapp2? yes

Was NBU restarted on media server after device config update? yes

Only if Device Config shows correct config will you be able to create new STU. please explain little bit more on this.

PS: PLEASE upgrade NBU on your media server? NDMP binaries are included in 7.x media server installation.

as of now it is not possible to upgrade media server, also earlier same set up was working for netapp1

Can you remove all relevant configuration via command and try to configure via GUI again?

It is best to configure from scratch via GUI.

I would have preferred this, but unfortunately it cant be done as its a huge production environment :(
