Recently I have setup a new backup job for some 4TB volumes on a IBM Nseries N6040 filer but have been getting the below errors:

17/05/2012 11:48:59 - end writing; write time: 00:08:48

The job runs for a few minutes and seems to write to tape but the drops out with one of the above errors.
I am running Netbackup 6.5.6 on Windows 2008.

Have you configured the user and password for this filer under any of the medias or master server?, the error you have is a metadata error because the Master/Media cannot connect to the filer through the TCP/IP network to command the filer to start the NDMP jobs, I will troubleshoot this at Network layer first between master/media and filer.
