NDMP issues again...

4/23/2013 15:45:43 - Error bptm (pid=21596) cannot add fragment to image database, error = file read failed

Im looking for insight into the meaning here so I know where to start investigating...is this my media server having an issue with the master server, so its most likely a comms issue?

The servers doing this work are a good 30miles away from my master server on the 1gbit LAN...could it be the lan thats causing me headaches?

I seem to be plagued with ndmp backup issues. Most frustrating. I dont get issues backing up windows servers in the same location, only NDMP headaches.

Master = Sol10 NB 7504, media = windows2008r2 7.1, NAS (direct attached drives) ontap 8.0.3

Thanks in advance,Jim

This is a 90 sec delay from my master not replying....anyone else experienced this , I'd love to know your findings.

So its sqlanywhere that is the problem and more than likely not my network.

DId the job got resources or it never reached to that stage ? what is the load on master server ? How many jobs wee running when you ran this backup ? how much memory do we have on master server ?

This could be time to log a call, but you might want to consider:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH202840

Cases like these tend to head to Engineering for an EEB.

Deeps: no that job failed. The next stream in the same policy started and worked fine. Load is low (this was during the day, the load is much greater overnight). Jobs running: ohh maybe 5. Mem is 8G , 3G free.

mph: Call logged, lets see what they say.I will take a look at your references.

Thanks,Jim

Good links mph...and as it happens I am running the same chip T2....

Given the significance of the db I will evaluate the info and see what Symantec support have to add.

Thanks,Jim
