I have completed the NDMP direct backup on 2 media servers and after i have removed the tape devices and robot control from the media server 1 . The ndmp restore keep failing on the awaiting resource A00001 Reason: Tape media server is not active, Media Server: mediaserver01.
I have checked the media owner is netapfiler.
But strange thing is that i can restore the media id A00001 after i have run a bpmedia -movedb -oldserver mediaserver01 -newserver mediaserver02.
Is this behaviour normal?

Yes. When you restore, the media server that did the backup will do the restore.
If that media server has been decommissioned, then you must set up the FORCE_RESTORE_MEDIA_SERVER
Moving images from the old server to a current or new server is proper procedure when decomissiong a media server.
A restore will always be performed on the media server that did the backup. As you have discovered the remedy is to move the media ownership from one media server to another.
If you decommission a media server - Please use the nbdecomsiion tool to do so. It will ensure a clean up in the environment.
You have proper decommissioned the media server there is no need of the the FORCE_RESTORE_MEDIA_SERVER.
