Level 6
Hi All

Anyone know why master server shows partially Online on NOM Console, when I click on Data Load Status of master server, I see :

* Media Monitor not connected
* Volume Group Monitor not connected
* Voume pool monitor not connected

But if I disable master server and enable again , I see Master server shows fully Online but after couple mins it shows again Partially Online, anyone know about it please let me know, thanks

old terms i know, but is the master also the VMD? They call it something else, but it is possible to have your media managers and volume managers be on a different server. You can find this sometimes in very large environments with multiple masters.

If not, can you do an output of bpps -a on your master server? I am curious if its not showing the processes running on its end.

Thanks for repying my question.

My master & EMM server are installed on same Unix server, and connects to 4 diffetents unix media servers

here my master server:

gsunbmaster:/nfs/src/nbu65 # bpps -a

The only time I see one of my masters go to partial is when I bounce netbackup, or when we have network issues and it loses connection.

T_N

NOM server is using production  doesn't have backup NIC now, it's using production network  : gsunom.gsu.edu

master server has multiple NIC
         backup network: gsunbmaster.gsuprv
        production network : gsunbmaster.gsu.edu

but EMM server name is gsunbmaster.gsuprv

I added new line in bp.conf of master server: SERVER = gsunbmaster.gsu.edu

it's working but master server shows partially Online on NOM console

What did you do on your system ? are they same network segment ? Thanks.

I would go and disable scaning and then enable scaning and it will work.

Please check network duplex settings, DNS entries and all services related to netbackup are started.

quick question, when I install NOM software, it asks me :
localhost : ???
What do I need to type in ? is it NOM server full name(I mean with domain name) ?

Raghuraam
Level 4
FQDN doesn't need if you system is registered in domain.

Any way please check the help doc.. every thing is very clear in how to  install...

I hate this error, its just looks messy.  It really should be more tolerant of network latency.  I would guess thats the issue.  I mean how many times is it really a problem when they are partially online.   That situation never is helpful to me.   If they are off line, then yeah.  I can go restart NBU on that server, and i will be back up.  But partially online can be ignored.  Which is why it should not happen.  If I can ignore it why have it.

I was told that just wait for 6.5.3 it will be fixed, then 6.5.4, and i am there and its less, but i still get every one of my servers to show partially available from time to time.  You can toy around by disable data collection, then enable it, and that will bring one back fully online, but i nolonger bother.

So my .02 is wait for 6.5.5  and see what happens.

Good luck.
