Nebulous error message by progress report...

Not applicable
I am using NetBackup 5.0 on a RedHat 7.3 machine. For intentional purposes, the machine is running a backup of a file that's stored locally.
Using the GUI, after creating a schedule, then running xbp. Once I find the directory and start the backup process, the progress report indicates normalcy for a few seconds, then the process stops and the following error message is logged:

20:17:23 Initiating backup
20:17:46 INF - Backup by root on client lusitania: system error occurred.

I have no idea what system error has occurred. I've checked
/var/log/message, but there is nothing NetBackup-related. Any help would be appreciated.

I would set up bpbkar and bptm logs on the RedHat server (or bpdm if backing up to disk) and that should give you more information. Create them in the NetBackup\Logs folder. If it is not backing itself up, place the bptm or bpdm logs on the media server that is backing it up.

Is the schedule you created a "user backup" or a "user archive" schedule?
Who is the user and does the user have correct permissions?

Is this still a problem?
