Hi All

Below are the environmental details

Master Server : 7.6.0.4 ( RHEL )

Media Server : 2.6.0.4 / Aappliance 52330

Client ( Win 2008 )

We have three drives on client C:\ , F: and E:\

C and F drive is less in size but E drive contains around 5.5 TB of data .There are around 11 folders. in E drive  Since the client is at remote site the backup speed we are getting is a bit slow and it takes 4-5 days when doing full backup of E drive .Therefore I created seperate policy for this client with below selection and enabled multistreaming in the policy

C:\

F:\

E:\*

I also enabled checkpoint , resiliense network , accelerator and client side dedup for this client and triggered the  backup . Now when the backup is triggered F drive backup fails with Error 90 and hence the parent job failed as well .

Below are the job details for the failed job

This is what we see in the file list when I open the failed job

SET SNAP_ID=vds_bos_env_storagepc_1431756725
BACKUP F:\ USING \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy147\ OPTIONS:ALT_PATH_PREFIX=C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\temp\_vrts_frzn_img_7112_1,FITYPE=MIRROR,MNTPOINT=F:\,FSTYPE=NTFS

The backups are going to appliance and I was expecting one backup stream created for each folder in E Drive .

So what I want to know is

a) Why F drive backup failed with error 90 , when it used to backup successfully when all local drive was selected

b) There should be one backup stream for each of the folder in E , but thats not what is happening

Hey Symboy !

Did you follow my second advice ?

Did you checkmark "allow multiple streams" in the policy for the E:\ drive ?

Netbackup will not create multiple data streams if "allow multiple streams" isn't selected

A: Exclude list configured for F:\  or has F:\ mount point for other drives ?

B: Did you checkmark "allow multiple streams" in the policy for the E:\ drive ?

I agree. Look for Exclude List in client's Host Properties. Create bpbkar log on client for further troubleshooting.

and why dont you use Flashbackup for ur E drive.given the size of the drive massuming it will have numerous files..

Hi

Thanks for the response ..

Yes .. F:\ drive was excluded from backup .. I never checked it because I never expected that ..

That answers the first question ..

But still not sure why multiple streams are not getting created when I have E:\* selected in the backup selection and multistreaming is enabled in the policy .

I want to have one stream created for each folder in the drive .. There are around 10 - 11 folders .. each with around 500 GB of data .. They all start with digits 00000

Have you created bpbkar log folder as suggested earlier?
