USEMAIL is meant for Clients.

Extract from 7.0 Admin Guide I:

USEMAIL for clients
The USEMAIL entry specifies the email address where NetBackup sends status on
the outcome of operations for a UNIX client. The default is that USEMAIL is not
present in any bp.conf file and no email is sent.

Note: Separate multiple email addresses using a comma, with no spaces.

To use this option, add it to the /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf or the
$HOME/bp.conf file on a UNIX client as follows:
■ If the /usr/openv/netbackup/bp.conf file specifies an address, NetBackup
sends automatic backup and manual backup status to that address.
■ If the $HOME/bp.conf file specifies an address, NetBackup also sends status
on the success or failure of user operations to that address.
This entry should appear only once in the bp.conf file.

USEMAIL in bp.conf will work when your backup job will failed or finished sucsessfully ..

for example i put bp.conf entry as showing below..

USEMAIL = p.shinde@mydomain.co.in

you will get E-mail alaerts when backup finish or fail.

alternate way to edit bp.conf is ...

Open NBU console & NetBackup Management > Host Properties > Double-click on client or master or media > Universal Settings.

i hope u understand :)

Hi Yogesh

Thanks for your advice.

I don't want Alert to get generated after each single job completion or failoure...

I want report to be get generated for all failed , successful, hang , incompleted etc.etc backup jobs at once, after a specific time in a day or by a specific hours of interval.

Does it possible using this method.

Kindly reply.

I am referring to MAILs, when i say Reports & alerts.

Please make a note :)

The email alert is very simple /basic - it is on or off.

It is sent after each job is completed, this cannot be changed.

If you wish to send mails in the way you describe, you would need to use Opscenter.

Reports,

in reports we need to set criteria "from date" and "to date" els we can set last 24 hrs

However you can achive this things by running bperror command with windows scripting.

take a look on
