Need steps to implement deduplication

Master Server : Netbackup 7.0.1

Media Server : Netbackup 7.0.1

Client : 7.0.1 (Windows 2003)

Os : Windows 2003

OpenStorage Datadomain

         I need to implement the deduplication (client and media server). Can anyone help me to understand the step by step how to do that.

I have already created datadomain as an openstorage with Storage server. Also configured disk pool and Storage Unit with corresponding disk pool.

Now please let me know what i have to do to enable the deduplication.

DataDomain does target based deduplication. Nothing is done from NBU side - you simply run backups to the DD storage unit.

Ok..thank u....i have heared about client and media server deduplication. so what is that exactly and how we can enable it. i have a little idea about it from some documents but dont know exactly how it work

That is when you use NetBackup built-in Media Server deduplication or a NetBackup appliance.

Data Domain is what we call a 'third-party' dedupe appliance, doing 'target based' deduplication.
