KB952696:

This patch to our NetBackup Servers are a requirement; Contains the necessary updates to ensure that you can back up encrypted files.

When I try to install it, it will not load, it says:

"The update is not applicable to your computer."

    We are running Windows 2008 R2 64bit

I did download this file as a hotfix from microsoft, the correct 64bit version.

any ideas?

Thanks

The file name is:    Windows6.0-KB952696-x64.msu

and on Microsoft's website, it says that it's for Windows 2008 and Windows

No 2008 R2 version is included anywhere in the expanded "Applies to" list at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952696#appliesto so I BELIEVE you don't need to install it.

This jives with the message you received, at least!

Presumably whatever is included in the hotfix made it into R2.

it's true it won't work... MSI packages for R2 / windows 7 having different naming conventions.. they starts with WIndows6.1 and for windows 2008/vista its windows6.0

this package is required only for windows 2008 family not for R2..... so no need to worry.
