Hi all,
Since a few days Hot Catalog Backup exits with status code 1 (partially succesfull)
The Job Details give following :
staging NBAZDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
error staging NBAZDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
staging NBDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
done staging NBDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
the requested operation was partially succesfull (1)
this problem seems to have appear after Sunday full Backup with Master FS Full.
The master server is under AIX 5.3
/usr/openv FS has 11 Go free space.
If someone has an idea ......
thank you

Hi,
Check the size of the log in /usr/openv/db/data. It could be that the log was not truncated and has now grown too large to copy into the staging area. This cause the job to end with 1.

Hi
Thank you for this explanantion which is very useful and seems to match with our configuration
However, we've tried to change the staging area in a larger FS and we've the same error.
I've to tell that we've done this without stopping / restarting NBU services.
Do you think we need to reboot the master so as to clearing cache ? I wonder if this type of error doesn't stay somewhere in memory.
Best regards

Hi,
No idea?

Hi,
Sorry, do this.
nbdb_backup -dbn NBDB -online c:\nbdb -tlog_only -truncate_tlog <<<< C:\nbdb is a location with enough space to house the backup!!!
That should clean up the size of the transaction log.

I am not sure what is the problem, but from your job detail I can tell what I know:
staging NBAZDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
error staging NBAZDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
staging NBDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
done staging NBDB backup to /usr/openv/db/staging
FYI, NBAZDB is a new database for NBU authorization package. From Netbackup 7.1 onwards, nbaz is no longer a separate package and is now built-in.
Dont think it's diskspace issue because NBDB staging works, anyway how big are those staging files (NBAZDB*) in /usr/openv/db/staging?
Might want to check /usr/openv/db/logs/server.log and admin/bpdbm logs to see what could happen to that staging data.

Hi Riaan,
This command is finishing well, but when I restart a Catalog Backup Policy the same error still appears.
In parallel of this topic, we've opened a case to Symantec Support.

Hi,
OK, check the bpbkar log on the master. There might by some inconsistencies with the images that you'll need to clean up.

Hi,
A support case has been opened.
I will post here when a solution will be found.
Thanks to all
