NetBackup 7.1 Windows Client Install - needs a diet

Former_Mary_Kay

I'm working with our serverbuild team to come up with a "silentclient.cmd" file for 7.1 with 7.1.0.2 patch, that doesn't install all the extra componants we will never use on our Windows Clients.  Specifically, now do we keep it from installing the following services:

  • NetBackup Bare Metal Restore Boot Server
  • NetBackup BMR MTFTP Service
  • NetBackup BMR PXE Service
  • NetBackup SAN Client Fibre Transport Service
  • Anything else we don't need for basic Windows client Backups?

Thanks in advance.

It is not possible to strip those components out of the Windows NetBackup client, and as of 7.0 it is not possible to do so on Linux clients either.

Besides, those are just service names pointing to executables of marginal size, you would not reclaim any siginifigant space from being able to remove them.
