Good to hear ....
We already download FA software , can we use the same FA software for producation or any changes are there in GA code ?

Hi Rajesh,
FA and GA should be identical so there is no need to re-download if you downloaded during the FA period.

7.1 is NOT available through fileconnect. I just got off the phone with tech support, and they're saying it will be available on 3/17.
Is anyone able to download GA now? Just wondering if I'm getting the run-around :)
03-15-2011 05:42 AM
Just checked file connect, I only see 7.0.
Guess this is whats called a soft-opening in the restaurant/hotel business :p
I am however impressed that the NetBackup documentation now finally has file names refecting the document's actual name, and not a 6 digit number!!!

Are we going to need new product serial #'s to access 7.1 downloads?
03-15-2011 10:46 AM
I was told by Tech Support that existing serial numbers would work.

I am told that the "7.1 Download Information" TechNote has been updated with new information, including instructions on getting into the Licensing Portal if you don't already have your upgrade notification (which sounds like it may be all of you, as the notifications are scheduled for delivery NEXT week).

Is anyone able to access the 7.1 files yet, from fileconnect? I just logged in, and only see the 7.0 files...

your licenses via the license portal - I had fun & games with it yesterday, but managed to get there in the end!

You need to logon to the Licensing Portal and request new license keys.

Tried that, and got a message saying I have to call Customer Support. Oy...
03-18-2011 02:42 AM
is it must that we have a notification ID to just download a patch of 7.1 ?
Why we are not able to download the 7.1 patch without any headach
03-18-2011 03:22 AM
It is not a patch - it's a new release.
See details above:

Thanks for helping me. I called to Symantec Sales and they sent me email for the S.No which i used in fileconnect to download the 7.1 version (and they also send me the product serial no which is used while installation) after a few verification questions.
One more thing to get the latest version(in my case version 7.1) we also have the support renewed so that we can get the benefit of upgrade

I've downloaded the split file, what is the commnad to unzip/unpack?
Thanks
03-23-2011 08:47 AM
If the latter, that's in the split README that you can also download
e.g.
To join NetBackup 7.1 Windows
-------------------------------------
1. Download all similarly prefixed image files, for example, "_zip.1of2" and "_zip.2of2".
2. Run the appropriate command to join the .zip files together:
- On UNIX systems:
cat "NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.1of2" "NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.2of2" > "NetBackup_7.1_Win.zip"
- On Windows systems:
copy /b "NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.1of2"+"NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.2of2" "NetBackup_7.1_Win.zip"
3. Use an md5sum command to ensure that your number matches the below provided
value.
md5sum NetBackup_7.1_Win.zip = 3ac2f05e7b91a0d56e8c088395ef8e1c
Also, the "Size" value is: 1.96 GB (2,115,515,470 bytes)
NOTE: You can download the MD5sum utilities from many sites, choose one that
you trust.
4. After you have successfully joined the files, you are ready to uncompress the
packages.
To unzip it you can simply right-click & "Extract All.."

Thanks Andy for you kind information. I also downloaded the two below files from fileconnect
1.) "NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.1of2"
2.) "NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.2of2"
But i used a 3rd party software to join both files. Thanks for your input regarding the joining procedure which is already built-in in Windows i.e
copy /b "NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.1of2"+"NetBackup_7.1_Win_zip.2of2" "NetBackup_7.1_Win.zip"
