I use Netbackup 7.1.0.3 on windows as master server.

I create Red Hat Linux Boot Server 5.5 x64 in VMWARE Workstation.

Test backup linux 5.5 x64 on vmware workstation successfull.

when I test restore via bmr, I configure boot from network. it can boot correctly.

But I found issue about driver:

ERROR: The following drivers failed to load:
pvscsi

How can I find this drivers to add in SRT?

I think I create linux box from vmware and then retsore to vmware same version. Why it required driver?

Please help me to solve this issues.

To add driver into SRT, follow the procedure described in BMR Administrator's Guide.
Check 'Installing device drivers into Linux SRTs' in page 122.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC3680

>Why it required driver?
Your VM is configured with pvscsi disk devices that is not bundled with OS, so NetBackup required it.

I got this same problem.

The great problem is that I`ve just done a restore of another machine, and I`ve got no error.

With the same image, same configurations, just changing the amount of disks.

I`m unable to perform a Discovery to do a dissimilar restore.

--Edited--

I`ve installed the pvscsi.o driver on the image and the error continue. You can get the driver from the vmware-tool iso located at the vmware host.

I manage to solve my problem.

Looks like the client have some drivers incorred informed at the momento fo the restore.

What I did:

  1. On Master and BMR server, set a entry on hosts like "10.10.10.10    discovery"
  2. At BMR console, create a new Discovery task on Resourses>Discored Configuration
  3. Set the IP addres at Hosts table and the MAC Address of the VM with error
  4. Pressed OK and check the new Task
  5. Start the VM and informa as client name: Discovery (hosts entry on Master Server/BMR) and the other informations
  6. Wait the client finish the process
  7. On hosts inform the client name and IP address correctly
  8. On BMR client list, create a new configuration from current
  9. Set the new MAC address and IP add
  10. on Volume, click Unmap All
  11. clicked on Initialize
  12. On disks, removed the restriction
  13. recreate the partitions and volumes
  14. Perform a restore

After this, the VM booted perfect with the new scsi driver and start the restore

Is a lot of trouble, but works for me

Hope this could help you with your problem
