NetBackup 7.5.0.x and mouse functionality

yhbg
Level 4

In version 7.5.0.1 and 7.5.0.3 if you left click on TLD(0) which is in the left pane and select one of the Media ID's in the right pane.  You can right click on this item and left click on any of the choices successfully.

However you lose this same functionality in the left pane.  Any entry from Backup, Archive, and Restore on down is the same.  If right click on storage under storage units, you get the choice New Storage Unit.  However when you left click on this item nothing happens.  I must use Ctrl-N or Alt-A and then the arrow keys in order to get the New Storage Unit menu to pop up.

Another example of the inconsistency of this functionality is when I select Master Servers under Host Properties.  After I select my entry in the right pane and the check mark appears indicating connected, if I right click this entry and get the list of choices, the left click does not work.

FYI- running RHEL5.8

I answered this before -I think.

If you are using the Java GUI via xming on a remote PC etc .... you will probably see this issue.

It's caused by xming, there is no fix that I know of.  Unfortunately Symantec do not write xming and so cannot provide a solution.  It may be that another x-server works better, such as Exceed, but I've never bother trying this.

If you see this on the master itself (using jnbSA) then log a call, of if using the Windows Admin Console, log a call.

Related to your other post? https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-7503-and-xming

In the other thread that you have 'hijacked' you mentioned that the GUI was working correctly directly on server console: " If I log on to the console I don't have this problem, ...."
and "
As promised, my reply is that the Windows Java GUI product, JavaInstallFiles-x86, provided does work.  It installs quickly and easily.  "

So, which GUI are you having a problem with?

Java directly on console? or Windows Java GUI? or using xming?

Hello Marianne,

The Windows Java Console does work.  But my quest to find a solution/answer as to what changed in NetBackup that took away the mouse functionality I had before still continues.  I hear the constant pointing to Xming as being the issue, but the only that changed was my version of NetBackup.  I can still get logged in and navigate but there is an issue with the right/left click of the mouse that has been lost as a result of the upgrade.

As I mentioned before its not true across the board that all of the right/left click functionality has been lost, but I am focused on finding a resolution.  Looking at things like comparing the diffrences between 6.5.2 and the binaries and/or Java files associated with the mouse and those of 7.5.0.3.

Output of search of 6.5.2:

As per Martin's post:

If you see this on the master itself (using jnbSA) then log a call, or if using the Windows Admin Console, log a call.

I can add to this: If you are using Windows Java console, then log a call.
