I have loaded NetBackup 7.5.0.3 on two TeleCom servers which have AntiVirus disabled. But The NB Client Services will not start up.
I am able to ping the NB Master Server; Tried "Log OnAs" both with a Domain Account and Local Service.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thank you,
~Keith

Separate NICs need different hostnames.
Bind IP addresses to hostnames in server's hosts files.
Also change NIC priorities so that Management Network is first in the list.
Is this a new installation that has never worked before? Or did it work before and then stopped working?
What is the error in Event Viewer Application log when Client Service don't start? (I don't think bmr is playing any role here...)
What about the other services?
Symantec Private Branch Exchange
NetBackup Legacy Client Service
NetBackup Legacy Network Service

Please note: The client is windows 2008R2 standard server, with all firewall turned off.
Also: Two, NIC's on this system that are active:
Local Area Connection #6: No Internet access, ip 111.111.111.1111 255.0.0.0 (used for telcom)
Management Network: Internet Access, ip 10.100.100.81, 255.255.255.0
What I think is happening, is the NB client is tring to go thru the "Local Area connection #6" and failing.
when I do a bpclntcmd -self

Thanks Marianne for the quick response.
This was a new installation and it was working, then the telcom staff worked on it and now it doesn't work for NetBackup. But I am unsure how to "Bind IP addresses to hostnames in server's hosts files"? I don't think I can change the NIC priorities, it's a phone system and they would probably kill me. :|
Also the three services will not start on this client (that what tipped me off of this issue):

NetBackup Legacy Client Service

What did your colleagues change ?
Martin

They said that they added the configuration for the other nic.
12-18-2012 07:52 AM
They added it wrong. as Marianne mentioned, you have the same hostname configured on different IP addresses, this is incorrect and Netbackup will be affected by it.
If it can't be changed NetBackup won't work I'm afraid!

Hi Revaroo,
how do you tell the Client server in the host file to use one path (out a dedicated NIC); then I believe that will work. What's your thoughts?
12-18-2012 08:12 AM
You add the clients hostname to 1 IP.
Which IP? That is down to your network routing. Speak with your system administrator/network administrator to find out which IP routes to your media server - you may have more than 1 IP that will route, so you need to decide which IP is configured with the clients hostname. This is not a NetBackup issue currently.
