NetBackup 7.5 Java Admin Console on Windows 8 ?

The NetBackup 7 Compatibility List http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH76648 (page 71) specifies that with Windows 8 the Java Admin Console and the Remote Admin Console are:  "Supported with NetBackup 7.6 and later".

We installed 7.5 Java GUI and 7.5.0.7 patch on Windows 8.1 with no issues, and installed the 7.6 and 7.6.0.2 GUI (in a different folder) on the same machine.  Both installed and ran side-by-side with no issues.

Has anyone experienced performance or stability issues with the 7.5 GUI on Windows 8 ?   I wonder if it is actually compatible and 7.5 is just not fully "logo certified".

Apologies for only responding now.

You are so right - There is no support for 7.5 Console on Windows 8.

Either upgrade environment to 7.6 or find a Windows 7 desktop/laptop.

You need to install Java from 7.5.0.6 installation media for Win2012 and Win8.
This is the first NBU version to support these 2 OS's..

NB_7.5.0.6.winnt.x64.Client.Win2012.exe provides a full installer for NetBackup 7.5.0.6 Client onWindows 2012 Server and Windows 8 Client.

Thank you, Marianne.  That 7.5.0.6 Technote announces suport for Windows 8 as a client but specifies in the "LIMITATIONS" section:

8. Remote Admin Console is not supported on Windows 2012/8.
9. Java Windows Administration Console is not supported on Windows 2012/8.

1. Install the java console 7.5.6 on win8,,then you can see it can not run.

2. Install the java console on  other windows server ,such as win2003

3. Copy the java console folder from win2003 to win8 java console install path ,cover it..you can see the java console can work

We were able to install and run the 7.5 console on Windows 8.1 with no issues.  It is not clear why this is not supported.
