I've seen several posts with similar problems but no real solution.

Thanks in advance,

Jana

i found what was wrong...

it seems the issue was related to the fact that the client name was shown as the 'VM display name' and not the dns name. after i've changed the snapshot client option to 'VM DNS name' the backup worked fine.

thank you all for your help

are u able to take snapshot of win2003 virtual machine from VMware end ??

have you updated vmware tools ?

Yes, snapshot works on VMware end, i've just tried it.

also i'm doing the tools upgrade. but i still have the same problem..

the thing is that i'm also running an application backup for the mssql so i'm thinking that there might be a conflict..but as far as i can see the backup finishes successfully about 4PM, and the Flash Backup Windows policy starts around 6PM...and fails

You are on 7.5 and Using Flash-backup as policy type.. Why not use VMWARE. Are Vcenter or Vm at lower version then 7.5.
