(crossposted from the Netting Out NetBackup blog)
I’m extremely happy to announce that NetBackup 220.127.116.11 is now Generally Available!
NetBackup 18.104.22.168 is our latest maintenance release for the NetBackup 7.6 line. This release contains fixes to 262 issues (bringing our total to over 1100!) including resolutions for most commonly downloaded EEBs, customer escalations, and critical internally found defects. 22.214.171.124 also provides several critical security fixes and many high-demand proliferations to our customers. The significant content of this release is:

This is a MAINTENANCE Release for NetBackup (as opposed to a Release Update) - it can be applied on top of NetBackup 7.6 GA or any 7.6.0.x. (If you are currently running 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, 7.1.0.x, 7.5 OR 7.5.0.x, you will need to upgrade to 7.6 GA before you can apply 188.8.131.52.)
To check to see if your particular Etrack is resolved in NetBackup 184.108.40.206, please refer to these Release Notes and our updated EEB guide:

Can you explain why we see this in the release notes? (It happened with 18.104.22.168 too if I recall)
"If you are running NetBackup 7.6 and do not plan to upgrade to version 7.6.1 (including the 5330 appliance) within the first calendar quarter of 2015, Symantec recommends that you upgrade to version 22.214.171.124 to take advantage of the latest bug fixes and compatibility features.
In this scenario, your suggested upgrade path from NetBackup 126.96.36.199 is to a release in the NetBackup 7.6.1 maintenance line (triple-dot) available in the first calendar quarter of 2015. Symantec will publicly declare the maintenance release that provides the recommended upgrade path when that software is released to manufacturing (RTM).
If you are running NetBackup 7.6 and plan to upgrade to version 7.6.1 (including the 5330 appliance) within the first calendar quarter of 2015, then Symantec recommends that you do not install the NetBackup 188.8.131.52 maintenance release in your environment."
It looks like, just like when some 184.108.40.206 fixes didn't make it into 220.127.116.11 but did make it into 18.104.22.168, there are some 22.214.171.124 fixes which won't have made it into 7.6.1 and if you're depending on them, you'll need to ask us about an EEB or just wait for (I expect) 126.96.36.199.
I hadn't heard about any concerns going from 188.8.131.52 to 7.6.1, though, although I guess it makes sense. Last time, we had 184.108.40.206 and 220.127.116.11 out so closely together I guess it wasn't as big a deal when we made a similar statement ("if you're at 18.104.22.168, maybe don't apply 22.214.171.124 if you're going to 7.6 GA" was what I think the TechNote said) and...actually, I'll just link it here:
It sounds like maybe we should expect a similar document about 7.6.1 when the time comes? (Although it may not have any more info than the blurb you've already extracted from the Release Notes...)
It's also interesting that it looks like we're promising 7.6.1 and 126.96.36.199 in the same quarter next year - I wonder if that's really going to happen. That'd be pretty exciting, if true!
