When opening the BAR application, I select the folders I want to backup and then click Start Backup of Marked Files, the program just hangs with a Not Responding status until it times out. I pulled the log file out of C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\winbargui and it shows the following...

Where exactly are you using BAR?
On a client?
If so, have you checked and confirmed port connectivity on port 1556 between client and master?
Do you have a policy on the master server for the client that contains a 'Client Backup' schedule with open window that allows Client Backup?
Check bprd log on the master to see if client request reached the master server.
