NetBackup VMware policy restore error 2820

Hello everybody,

I have managed to install a new physical NetBackup Master server, recover the catalog, reconfigure devices
and reconfigure VMware hosts or in this case remove old VMware hosts and add a new vCenter.

I was able to inventory the robot, which is now connected to the Master server, so the Master server is now
Media server as well. I can see the correct tape library and tape drive connected to the Master/Media server
as well and the two data cartridges that are now within the library.

I was able to search for a VM name and select a specific VM for a restore, the virtual machine Pre-Recovery
check passed, but as soon as I start the recovery, I get the following error ...

NetBackup VMware policy restore error  (2820)

Is it necessary to have the same NetBackup VMware policies in place to successfully restore a VM?

Where might I find more in-depth log infos in <installdir>\netbackup\logs ?

your restore is failing on bprd process itself . bump up the  verbosity for bprd and chk inside /logs/bprd

Hello,

a quicker way how to find out a cause of VM restore errors is to check vSphere console for errors directly.

You mentioned that the Primary server is now a media server as well. Assuming you had a separate media server did you decommission the media server and assign all media to the new primary/media server.
