NetBackup - is it worth it?

Hi All,

I am looking for some advice and information here...
We run ARCserve 12 (SP2) in our data centre, and I think it's coming to the end of it's lifespan as a backup solution. We're backing up multiple SQL DBs, 1 of which is our SAP production DB at around 4.1TB. Backups take over 18 hours at times, and that's no longer good enough.
I want to propose that we look at replacing it in the new year, but I'd like to know the following:

1. Anybody got good experience (both problems, work-arounds, usability etc) with NetBackup and the disk component of it (PureDisk)?
2. Website which has objectively reviewed NetBackup and compared it to other applications?
3. Whether or not it's financially worthwhile and the benefits/cons of installing it?

Thanks,

Craig

1. Anybody got good experience (both problems, work-arounds, usability etc) with NetBackup and the disk component of it (PureDisk)?

i started with 5.x of netbackup and now @ 7.0 FA .... i love the way the docs are created and the way things would be simpler in the GUI
with 7.0 dedup is part of netbackup

2. Website which has objectively reviewed NetBackup and compared it to other applications?

yes it is good, but all depends on your requirement

As Srikanth & noob mentioned, there's a lot of features to show interest in NB and now with the last version, that include deduplication from client an even for the puredisk option, it's better, believe it!

Soon this version will be available and you sould try it.

mmm...thanks guys.
I suppose the most important question here is whether or not it supports HP Integrity servers, seeing as we have about 10 of them in our data centre.
