NetBackup server on VIO

Dears,

I'm planning to install NetBackup server on IBM LPAR to backup SAP database on LPAR also

Refering to the below link

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH162738

I could find the following conditions

Virtualization on IBM POWER:

  • All NetBackup components supported on physical media servers are supported on IBM AIX Virtual Machines (VM) or Logical Partitions (LPAR) on IBM POWER Systems configured using dedicated hardware at the adapter level with no shared I/O.

  • All NetBackup components supported on physical media servers are supported on IBM AIX Virtual Machines on IBM Power Systems with shared devices and I/O using an IBM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS or VIO Server) to control the hardware layer for all I/O.
    • All IBM AIX VMs must be VIO clients to the VIO Server to use the shared hardware.
    • All hardware to be shared must be NPIV-capable (N_PORT ID Virtualization). See IBM's web site for more information on NPIV-supported hardware on POWER Systems.
    • Also supported with IBM AIX Virtual Machines using VIOS:
      • IBM CPU/Memory sharing
      • IBM Micro-Partitioning for shared processor pools and automatic load balancing

Note:  Installing NetBackup in the VIO Server partition is not supported.

What does  mean with "Installing NetBackup in the VIO Server partition is not supported." after mentioning that All NetBackup components supported on physical media servers are supported on IBM AIX Virtual Machines on IBM Power Systems with shared devices and I/O using an IBM Virtual I/O Server (VIOS or VIO Server) to control the hardware layer for all I/O.?

As far as I have understood VIO is the Virtualization server in the AIX hardware. It does not make sense to install Netbackup in the VIO server.
