Hello Champions,

I am new to the netbackup and need help to upgrade netbackup appliance and netbackup. We currently running NBU Appliance 2.6.02 and NBU version 7.6.0.1. We are planning to upgrade to 2.6.1.2 and NBU version 7.6.1.2. I have few questions to ask they may sound stupid but need help to understand NBU.

We have two Netbackup master servers one is appliance and standalon master server. I was able to find appliance EEb but i could not find the NBU version image.

Do we need to install NBU appliance version first and NBU version next? if yes where can i find the NBU version 7.6.1.2?

Do I need to install both images on both servers?

I am totally confused between appliance version and netbakcup version. Answers to my stupid questions will be appreciated.

Thank you All.

If both your servers are master servers, it shouldn't matter what order you upgrade them.

The upgrade order is OpsCenter first, then Master Server, then Media Server, the Clients.

When upgrading to 7.6.1.2, you have to upgrade to 7.6.1 first and then apply the patch.

The appliance will let you upgrade straight to 2.6.1.2.

You can view more information about 7.6.1.2 here: https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/forums/netbackup-7612-netbackup-761-maintenance-release-2-now-available

SORT has a bunch of helpful information as well: https://sort.symantec.com/checklist/install

The appliance EEB upgrades the version of NetBackup running on it. If one of your appliances is a master server then it will automatically upgrade to 7.6.1.2 when the appliance code is upgraded to 2.6.1.2. Veritas a while ago normalized the appliance code version with the NBU code version. So if an appliance is running code 2.6.0.1 then the NBU code is 7.6.0.1

Hi Ali, the ISO is for re-imaging an appliance, not for upgrades.

For an upgrade you need the "rpm" style kits.
