Is it possible to restore from a tape that is outside the retention schedule. I know in ArcServe I could browse the tape, but with netbackup it seems you have to browse the client jobs to do the restore. So if the tape is outside the retention schedule, how do you do it?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Mark

Mark,
The tape will need to be imported so that the catalog information can be recreated. The procedure can be done via the CLI or GUI.
Look under the catalog section of the GUI. On the right side will be a drop down menu and one of the selections is import.

got it...never even looked there before.
So once I select which tape to import, and the import job finishes..I can go to the server needing the file restore, run the Backup, Archive, and Restore program and that date will now show up in the window?
Thanks,
Mark

if you do both phases of the import , yes you can then restore from the tape just like normal.
