Hi All,
Does anyone have any ideas on how NetBackup appliance works with 4 paths to SAN fabrics, ie. round-robin or fixed path to pull data from SAN?
At the moment, I sometimes get a LUN trespass after NetBackup finishes backup for the night.
EMC VNX has its own mechanism to do implicit trespass when more I/O request is coming from non-optimal path.
For example, SP A is the owner of LUN A. Netbackup pulls data from the path connected to SP B. VNX triggers implicit trespass.
Cheers,
John

Well with NBU 2.6.0.2 this is supported on appliance (5230 for sure).
Check out this screen shot
As you can see this is taken from NetBackup apliances 2.6.0.2 release notes...

Veritas Volume Manager (VxVM) has the ability to control multipathing to a EMC VNX device. Volume Manager is used internaly in the 5230 appliance.
I found this document for reference : http://www.cpuservice.pl/pub/EMClinux.pdf
I do not if this is supported by Symantec at all.
