We are running NB 7.1 on linux servers, and have deployed Data Domain appliances for our backups.
Researching whether or not there is a use case in our environment for the 5220 appliance. One question I need confirmed is whether or not it is best practice to create Storage Unit groups for a pool of 5220 media servers. From my understanding, if you put a group of 5220s in an STU group, the backup data would have to be reseeded on each appliance. Just want to make sure that is indeed the case.
Thanks

Yes you are right. If you want capacity go for the 5020 PDDO appliance - It scale to 192TB

Thanks Nicolai.
I thought the 5000/5020 was a lower gen 5220. I guess the 5020 is the better apples to apples comparison to the Data Domain 890. Curious as to why our Symantec rep didn't mention the 5020 since I see the aforementioned shortcoming (on the 5220s) to be a major decision point.
If you have any expereince/opinions on these appliances feel free to share.

I also have a DD890 and really like it. We are looking into 5020 to support Netbackup client side dedupe. The MSDP limit of 64TB is too small for most of my customers.
