Hi all,

We have the following
What strategies do you recommend for backing up this folder?
We have thought off;
  • Backing up the Windows Shadow Copy Snapshots to tape. I’m not sure exactly how this would work because we have not encountered this solution previously.
  • Using the Netbackup Snapshot client??? Will this even get the information that is currently replicated?

We have some servers that if I stop DFS durning the week it will never catch up.
so I backup on week nights with DFS running.
and only do the stop on friday night.  That way it can get caught up again.
Still waiting for the fix.  Hope it makes it into 6.5.4.

I believe that 6.0 agent is able to backup the DFS data.

in 6.5, there are below options to backup dfs data

Workaround 1
follow the technote
http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290900.htm

Workaround 2
Another option is to use a hub server where by you replicate the data to another server, turn off replication, then back up that server.

Workaround 3
Use an advanced client offhost method to snap the volume.

DFS-R not supported in 6.5.3.1 : http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/290900.htm

6.5.4: http://seer.entsupport.symantec.com/docs/326098.htm

Francois is correct, upgrade to NetBackup 6.5.4, and you shouldn't have to worry about it anymore.
