I am currently running Netbackup 6 MP5 in a windows environment. I have an IBM TS3310 tape library with 2 drives. Our file store backup starts at 18:00 until approximately 01:00 the following morning but in the last week the job has been taking 10 hours + to complete and when I checked the problem report I see the following errors:
Media Manager error 97, requested media id is in use, cannot process request, host = server
Media Manager could not deassign media 0123L3, retaining it in Netbackup Database.
Could not deassign media-id 0123L3, host server could not deassign media due to media manager error (177).
I have checked the tape the previous day and it is not assigned or recorded in any of the netbackup databases so is effectively a new tape.
Anyone have any ideas why Netbackup is trying to do this while the tape is in use?
