Netbackup 7.1 and Exchange 2010

Good day

I'm running a windows environment, Master Server and 2 Media servers, all on Netbackup 6.5 with Windows 2003 SP2, looking to upgrade to Netbackup 7.1 soon.

If anybody uses Netbackup 7 with Exchange do you know if the Netbackup server has to be 64-bit also? Somebody I know ran into a problem where the BackupExec server had to be 64-bit to backup Exchange because of the Management tools. But doesn't Netbackup install a client on the Exchange server instead of using the management tools to do backups?

Kind regards
NetB

PLEASE have a look at the compatibility guides: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH59978

NBU master and media server is still supported on 32-bit W2003.

You are correct - if Exchange will be backed up as a network client, you only need the NBU client software on the Exchange server.

Hi,

Are you going to upgrade to 2010?

Hi Riaan

Technically we going to phase out Exchange 2007 and do a fresh install of Exchange 2010 on a Windows 2008R2.

I Just need to know if we need a 64bit Media server or whether a 32bit Media will do. upgrading to Netbackup version 7.1
