2. ./install

3. want to continue? Y

4. Netbackup client s/w ? Y

5. Backup Server : XX

6. Netbackup Client? Y

7. After this I'm getting an error ./cp_to_client: line 1807: ./installpbx: Permission denied

I'm not sure whethere I'm following the right steps and the right s/w I have?

attached the steps which i had followed and the error i'm getting.

Kindly advice me and help me out in this.

You need to install the "base kit" and then the "patch kit".

You have just the patch kit above.

The installation guide for 7.5 is here:

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.DOC5154.html

.

The "base kits" are on CD/DVD media, or available for dowbload via Veritas Licensing Portal, if you have a valid license key and/or entitlement.

When I tried uname -a cmd: it shows Linux 2.6.32-358.e16.x86_64

When I run the s/w which I have it shows: This package will install Linux/RedHat2.6.18 client

Is this because of it I'm not able to install?

If this is the problem shall do i need to update ?

Download NBU Client patch files for Unix/linux from: www.symantec.com/docs/TECH199244

Copy the 3 files to the Linux Client, join them as per instructions in the download page:
cat "NB_CLT_7.5.0.5_tar-split.1of3" "NB_CLT_7.5.0.5_tar-split.2of3" "NB_CLT_7.5.0.5_tar-split.3of3" > "NB_CLT_7.5.0.5.tar"
then extract them using 'tar xvf NB_CLT_7.5.0.5.tar'.
Next,  install using NB_update.install script.

Permission Denied says you are are probably not installing as root. Sudo user is not a good idea - you need to be root.

And yes, as per the the README TN where you downloaded 7.5.0.5 from and sdo's post:

This Maintenance Release requires NetBackup 7.5 or higher be installed before applying.

You may want to bookmark the NBU Master Download TN: http://www.veritas.com/docs/000036173

Extract:

To obtain NetBackup 7.5 GA installation media, go to:

Thanks Marianne and sdo, will check with the implementation team, whether they have the right and updated s/w and will try it out
