Netbackup 7.5 upgrade to 7.7.3 Solaris 10

Hello

I have a customer on Solaris 10 netbackup 7.5.0.4 and need to upgrade them to 7.7.3. I would like clarification whether the master/media/client need to be on Solaris 10 update 11, as there master/media server is currently running Solaris 10 update 8 and another update 10.

The SCL 7.7 states:

Oracle Solaris 10 Update 11 and later support began from NetBackup 7.7.

Does that imply update 11 support begins at 7.7.3 and other versions are ok?

Thanks

From the v7.7.x SCL... these two points :

2) Oracle Solaris 11.3 and later support began in NetBackup 7.7.2.
4) Oracle Solaris 10 Update 11 and later support began from NetBackup 7.7.

...means:

2) that if your OS is Solaris 11.3 then you must use minimum of NBU 7.7.2

4) that if your OS is Solaris 10 U11+ then you must use a minimum of NBU 7.7

.

Looking back at the SCL, note the right hand column, a minimm NetBackup Server version 7.1 for Solaris 10 (implied base).

So, IMO, you do not need to upgrade your OS in order to install NetBackup Server v7.7.3... but what you will achieve is that by upgrading NetBackup Server to v7.7.3, then you will now also be able to upgrade your OSto for example Solaris 10 U11 if you want/need to do that too at some future point.

.

N.B:  All of this is related to NetBackup v7.x.x only.  There are separate SCL documents for different NetBackup v8.x.x.

Many thanks for your quick response
