i have successfully upgraded my environement (Server and clients) using below upgrade sequence.

7.6 to 7.7 to 8.0 and then to 8.1.2.

but now i am facing another issue regarding SRT creation on windows. There is a requirement of ADK installation for SRT.

I have installed windows 10 ADK on my boot server (Win 2k8 R2), after ADK installation step SRT setup gives error that ADK installation failed. Although i have installed ADK using all of its options as well.

i have attached the screenshots.

Did you remember to do installation with 'Run as Administrator'?

Please copy full installation log to install.txt and upload here.

Yes i ran the setup as Admin.

Attached is the requested log file.

So, according to the installation log, you are trying to install NBU Master server, right?
Any reason why you uninstalled 7.6 and not performed an upgrade?

We see errors much earlier in the installation log:

It seems that this master is not part of AD domain with no DNS lookup configured. I saw this in the log:
DNS Lookup failed for host bkpsrv error:No DNS servers configured for local system. !

It is therefore important that ...etc\hosts entries exist to correctly resolve local server and client name lookup.
It seems that machine name is upper case and NBU Client name is lower case:
Computer name: BKPSRV
Client_Name (from registry): bkpsrv

Have a look at these 2 TNs:

https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100041396

Hope this helps...

Any reason why you uninstalled 7.6 and not performed an upgrade?

Yes i did uninstalled 7.6 because direct upgrade to 8.1 was not supported. for that i have to go to 7.7 to 8.0 and then to 8.1.2.

I thought it would save me some time to just install 8.1.2 from scratch.

It seems that this master is not part of AD domain with no DNS lookup configured

yes no AD domain or DNS is configured for this server, and hostname and client name is all in small letters.

Glad you managed to complete the upgrade.

The BMR config issue is new and really needs to be discussed as a new discussion.

Not sure if you have seen the following in NetBackup Bare Metal Restore Administrator's Guide ?

Create an SRT
BMR SRT provides the resources that are needed to boot the client system and
begin the restore process. BMR Windows SRT uses Windows Pre-Installation
Environment (WinPE) as base recovery environment. In order to create this base
WinPE recovery environment, you need to install Microsoft Assessment and
Deployment Kit (ADK) version 8.1 on the host.

■ Manual ADK setup using FULL ADK 8.1 installable ADK 8.1 is downloadable
(ADKsetup.exe) and can be installed from Microsoft’s website
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=293840 directly or an offline installation
can be done by downloading entire ADK installer package from the Microsoft’s
Website.

Best to download correct ADK version.

Thanks Marianne,

After a week of stuggle, i found this KB in which correct required version of ADK is mentioned i.e .

For Windows 10 (ADK 10.1.14393.0 or version 1607)
For Windows ADK 8.1 (ADK 8.100.26866.0)

installed the correct version and probelm is resolved.

Thanks for helping.

@ArsalanAlli

The correct version is also clearly mentioned in the BMR Admin Guide as per my post above.
It even contains the link to the Microsoft download page.
