Master server : Linux (netbackup 7.5.0.4)

Media server : Solaris 10 (netbackup 7.5.0.4)

client : solaris 10 (netbackup 6.5.5)

I am upgrading Netbackup client from the media server and it is failing. it is happening for multiple solaris clients

bash-3.00# more /tmp/update_clients.11-30-2015.29619
        MDCSAPEPDB01 Solaris/Solaris10 ...
CLIENT_CMD_SOCK from bpcd = 4
CLIENT_STAT_SOCK from bpcd = 5
BPCD connected
Abandoning update of client MDCSAPEPDB01.
Mixed version server/client binaries on a single host are not supported.

I am trying the following:

bash-3.00# cat /test_sol
Solaris Solaris10 MDCSAPEPDB01

bash-3.00# ./update_clients -ForceInstall -ClientList "/test_sol"

There are 1 clients to upgrade.

The upgrade will likely take 1 to 3 minutes.
Do you want to upgrade clients now? [y,n] (y)
Please be patient.

If you are no longer using this machine as NBU media server, you will need to remove package and re-install as client.

Please ensure that media server is properly decommissioned.

Seems there is server software installed on the client that you are trying to upgrade? Check contents of /usr/openv on the client. Is there a volmgr folder?

Hi Marianne,

You were right. I could find volmgr folder in the client machine.

Inorder to update the client NBU version should we have to uninstall server pkg and install client??

To properly decomission a media server in NBU 6.5.5 you can use the decomission tool :

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH125456

I Hve decomissioned the media server and uninstalled the server package. Then Installed Client package remotely (pushed rom master).

Now the client is upgraded to 7.5.0.4.
