Hello

I am getting the error 46 while running backup for a windows 2000 client . I have given the full access to the client. Can anybody suggest .It is NBU 6.5.2A.

1. If your media server is separate to your master, verify it is listed under Host Properties > Clients > Servers attributes > media servers.

2. check the bpcd log on the client and bpbrm on the media server at the time of failure, and then read this: http://support.veritas.com/docs/247114.  You want to check:

    a. the server name has been added to the configuration on the client

    b. that name resolution is returning the correct host name and IP address

    c. that forward AND reverse name lookups work between the master<->client and media<->client...in BOTH directions!

Thanks for your solution. The issue has been resolved. Actually the main issue was with encryption. I have change the encryption for client to "ALLOWED" and set the logging to maximum level, now the backup is running successfully.
