Netbackup Exchange DAG job returns 26, but databases are being backed up

Hi All,

 

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on an issue we're having with our Exchange backups, the parent job targetting the DAG name is failing with error 26, however the child jobs which run for each database are succeeding. The log for the DAG job indicates a name resolution error, but I don't know why this is, given that it is able to gather the database locations successfully.

 

It doesn't seem to be a major issue, as the DB's are getting backed up, but from a reporting point of view at least would like to see this job exit with a 0.

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Our Exchange policy;

Policy Type: MS-Exchange-Server

Snapshot Client: Perform snapshot backups

Allow multiple data streams

Database backup source: Active copy only

Preferred server list wnrydex03.company.com

Backup selections: all the databases in the form;

Microsoft Exchange Database Availability Groups:\DAG1.company.com\Microsoft Information Store\Site_North_Fremantle

Why not just fix the name resolution error?

Bear in mind that NBU is case sensitive - ensure that master and media server can resolve UPPERCASE hostnames (DAG1.company.com).

Hi Marianne,

I would have thought that if NBU was truly unable to resolve the DAG1 hostname, it wouldn't be able to complete the backup of the individual mailbox databases within the DAG?

All the database selections in this policy complete successfully.

When it says BPCD on DAG1 exited - does this mean that the client was unable to resolve the master or media server names?
