Netbackup Media server - Windows vs Linux

I'm new in netbackup area. I'm curious which OS i should choose for netbackup Media server?

Does anyone describe this situation? i'm really confused which OS should i pick for Media servers?

I would appriciate for your inputs.

It does not matter as long as you stay within Veritas Support matrix.

If you are a windows guy/girl - stay with Windows.

If you are a Linux guy/girl - stay with Linux (or Unix).

if you are both a Windows and Linux guy/girl, well take a coin and toss it :D

Both operating systems are very mature and I doubt there is much more than 2% performance improvement, if any at all. What matter is how you are able to manage the infrastructure.

We had a Windows Media server that ran our VMware backups that we converted to Suse Linux.  We had all sorts of problems and quicly reverted back to Windows. 

Other than that we've never seen a problem of one vs the other.
