Environment
1 Windows 2008 R2 x64 Master server running Enterprise server 7.6.0.2
2 Windows 2008 R2 x64 Media servers running Enterprise Server 7.6.0.2
300+ Various flavours of Win 2003 and 2008 running various flavours of 6.X
I'm attemtping to do a push install from the media server to selected clients as a test, have tried a range of OSs, both 32 (from another 32 server) and 64 bit and a number of different starting Netbackup levels
So far none of these work. I've logged a call and they checked the logs but so far no joy. The install seems to fallover at the point at which it is querying the source location of the installation files. According to the logs the file copy to the client does work, and running the preinstallation checks doesn't give up any issues.
I know there are additional firewall ports both windows and NB that need to be open but I thought we had done this.
Could someone please confirm which ports are needed to be open and if there are any other known issues with the Windows push install.
I did not that the push install temp directory is being created on the C: drive while the NB installation etc is on the D:
Below is a copy of the log
Thanks in advance

A couple of similar posts:
Remote install of Windows client behind firewall
Unable to push NetBackup client
We have found that software can only be pushed between similar OS and bit versions:
W2003 32-bit to W2003 32-bit clients,
W2003 64-bit to W2003 64-bit clients,
W2008 64-bit to W2008 64-bit clients,
etc.
Best to push within same domain, UAC disabled, Domain Admin permissions, etc...

Hi AW365,
This can be achive .....Microsoft Installer pkg. will help you .....
As you said .... all servers 300+ are windows boxes. i assume all 300+ windows boxes are part of Active Director. To make it simpler, you need to categorized all this servers OS as a 32bit and 64bit
After that you can create coustomized msi package according to your Media servers. and deploy this msi package through Active Diractory.
you may need credentials of .--- AD Admin / Domain Admin / Entrpz. Admin (depending on your AD environment)
After installation ... your part is just to verify connectivity with all cilents. (bptestbpcd)

All
As stated in my original post I did match OS and bit version, they are all in the same Domain, the account used is a domain admin Sorry but for customer reasons (don't ask)
Yogeshi, customer wants to use push install not AD and MSI. thanks though
Do the logs not give an indication of what is failing ?

Hi AW365,
I was wondering if you ever resolved this issue. I am having the same exact problem ony with X64bit clients. Same domain, UAC disable, local admin etc but the remote install fails.

We see:
1:(02/03/15 11:46:38)->ERROR: Code(-2147417848): executing query: select * from Win32_OperatingSystem
...and it seems to carry on copying...
...then we see:
1:(02/03/15 11:48:19)->Deleting registry key: -2147483646, SOFTWARE\Symantec\Backup Exec For Windows\Backup Exec\Install\PushStatus
1:(02/03/15 11:48:19)->ERROR: Code(-2147417848): getting parameter object: StdRegProv, DeleteKey
...and it all goes haywaire after that.
.
If you take the error code "-2147417848" and drop in in to Excel, and do a =DEC2HEX on it... you get 0x80010108, which is listed here:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/archive/windows_update_codes.htm
...as:
"RPC_E_Disconnected"
...and the other error code of "-2147483646" is 0x80000002, which is described here:
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c79a2b9e-6d74-405d-90a1-a29c2ffa7307/exception-code-0x80000002-please-help?forum=windowsmobiledev
...as a memory alignment error.
.
@AW365 you say twice that you have checked and confirmed same OS and bitness (which I think it's fair for me to interpret as you saying that it's Windows, and it's 32-bit or 64-bit)... but in neither post do you make it categorically clear which OS variant and/or service pack level the source and targets are.
And, I'm wondering if Marianne's table of OS and bitness can be extended to include R2 variants, and maybe even service pack variants... who knows...
...anyway, what I'm trying to lead towards is have you confirmed that both source target are (not just the fact that it is Windows and 64-bit), but confirmed whether they are running the same R2 level (or not) and the same service pack level (or not).
