SSO is licensed per shared tape drive. If you have for example 4 tape drives in tape library and all 4 drives are shared, you need 4 x Library based Tape Drive licenses and 4 x SSO. 2 shared tape drives in tape library will need 2 x Library based Tape Drive licenses and 2 x SSO.

Hello

Licensing questions should be directed to your Symantec Account Manager/Symantec Partner.

Your licensing would depend on your current licensing model (traditional/platform), the type of disk you'd like to use (basic, advanced, dedupe) and the amount of servers connected your tape library.

not if used as a basic disk storage unit.

If you plan to use the advanced disk options of Netbackup - that need to be licensed as well.

I have no idea what HP Storage 2000 is. How will it be used? Basic Disk? Advanced disk with OST? Or something else? Riaan has a very valid suggestion - you need to discuss licensing requirements with your local reseller. Only a proper assessment of all of your licensing needs will determine if traditional agent-based licensing or capacity license will be best for your environment.

Hi, The Hp storage will be used as basic disk only. Also if 1 tape library has 2-3 shelfs to take 2-3 tapes does this mean each shelf needs to be licensed? Regards

Only "Library-based" tape drives are licensed and SSO. Nothing else related to robot, media, etc. There is no additional cost or license for Basic Disk, but features are VERY limited. Please listen to us and talk to your local reseller. You will probably regret configuring basic disk soon after implementing it...

Symantec license tape drives located in robots (as marianne said), not the numbers of cells for the tapes.
