Netbackup San Backup.

Hi all

I am trying to run a backup on a San storage but the backup speed is quite slow.  The San is very large and the max speed is around 5.5MB a second.  .  To try and speed up the process there are multiple jobs (one job backing up files that start with A, another for B ETC ETC) and the odd thing is that  It doesn’t matter if it’s one job or 5 they all run around 5.5MB a second.   Running multiples is faster than just one but it is still taking 5 days or more to run the backup.

If I transfer files between the San and the media servers manually it averages 35MB files a second.

Is there anything I am missing?

Also on the Media servers  the Size_Data_Buffers and Number_Data_Buffers files are already present.

We could be having some sort of network hiccup but not sure if there is anything on netbackup that maybe we missed.

This is on Netbackup 7.6.1

Policy Type MS-WIndows

Storage LT06

Thanks.

Have you done bpbkar test to test read speed from disk via the filesystem?
Have you checked fragmentation status?

Only when local read speed from disk is fine do we go to the next step to test network transfer.
