Netbackup Services not starting automatically, Click "Repair" to start

running NB 7.5.0.5

ON WIN 2008 R2 64 BIT

Daily we have to run Master server manually , first we will click Repair then Contiue to restart the service Or we have to ran the command bpup.exe to run NB Services

What is the fault? how we can recover this??

Please help me

Check Windows Event Logs for errors. 

Check System and Application logs.

Check that all NBU processes are excluded from Anti Virus software. AV software like McAfee has been known for killing NBU services.

I have gone through event logs, Application log showing this error when Netbackup try to start

 52522,195,4176,4540,MASTERSERVERNAME:2821,0,SYSTEM: 30,0,systrust, 
  MASTERSERVERNAME:2821 
   low 
 
 
and i have excluded  folder VERITAS from Mccaffee exclusions
 
what to do now

Commonly when a service do not start properly is a licenses issue or you have another server with the same name/ip on the network. Revise your DNS to avoid this.

I had the same problem in a very similar environment. I reviewed the McAffee exclusions and they were correctly configured. It seems a problem with dependencies, so I had to configure a Delayed Startup for NBU services, make some tests rebooting server and it works!

Also this happend if the registry have a different name or ip for the master server.

i have checked all the causes explained above

still not resolved

daily we have to repair then continue to start the services

i have alos excluded Mc Cafee,i have checked no license issue

Probably (hopefully) fixed by now as inn_kam has not updated this discussion in over 2 weeks...

Please save Event Viewer logs as text and post as File Attachments.

Feel free to search and replace master server hostname in the text files.

I hope that you have logged a Support call with Symantec by now?

Hi Inn_Kam,

Can you Please do this.

1. Click Cancel

2. Close Netbackup Console

2. Open a Command Prompt Navigate to

C:\Program Files\Veritas\Netbackup\bin\>bpdown -f -v

3. After successful run of bpdown command navigate to

   C:\Program Files\Veritas\Netbackup\bin\>bpup -f -v

4. After successful run bpup command -f -v

5. Open Netbackup Console Again. Run a Backup Again.

Where did you open the Event Viewer log?

If on the Master server, something is very wrong with your installation.

If you do not want to post text output of Event Viewer logs, please open a Support call. 
You are not giving enough info to even try and assist you...

i installed very correctly , where in installation is mistake came that this error can came?

Have you tried staring the NBU console with Run as Administrator ?

Hey inn_kam, 

first to check :bpclntcmd -self on for the master server

Sample output:
C:\Program Files\VERITAS\NetBackup\bin>bpclntcmd -self
gethostname() returned: client_01
host client_01: client_01.domain.com at 192.168.0.30 (0x276e520a)
checkhname: aliases:

bpclntcmd -ip <ip_address>

The -ip option requests bpclntcmd to resolve the specified IP address to a hostname.  It attempts to obtain the host name associated with the IP address as defined in the host's Domain Name Service (DNS), local hosts file, or Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) entries.  Like the -self option, no connection is made to the master server.  

 

bpclntcmd -hn <host_name>

The -hn option requests bpclntcmd to resolve the specified host name to an IP address.  It attempts to obtain the IP address associated with the host name as defined in the host's Domain Name Service (DNS), local hosts file, or Windows Internet Naming Service (WINS) entries.  Like the -self option, no connection is made to the master server.  

Normaly if you re not able to start the services there was a name resolution error befor the installation happened. When you find the error and you have correct it, you should run again the installtion.After that you shoul be able to start services.
