Hi All,

I need your help in creating a user with only Read only Permission for Netbackup Activity Monitor.

I tried updating in auth.conf as,

User name : ram

auth.conf was edited as,

root ADMIN=ALL JBP=ALL
ram JBP=AM

However this doesn't work as expected, this particular user has concel permissions too.

Please let me know if any other information to be update.

Please help me out with a solution.

Thanks and Regards,

.Jayaram Balasubramanian.

Unfortunaly this is how it works by design - you can't remove the "cancel all" right.

You have much better granularity if you use NBAC (Netbackup Access Control),

Hi Nicolai,

Thanks for the solution, one doubt on NBAC..

Please give me an idea on how to effectively use NBAC for the present situation.

Thanks and Regards,

Hi Jayaram,

Unfortunately auth.conf is not granular enough for your purpose. It can't give user "read only" permission to the NetBackup Activity Monitor. You can see the kind of permission you can give using auth.conf here:

http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=HOWTO33597

NBAC is more suitable for you, and yes, you can assign just "read only" permission to user.

See http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=DOC5185

Page 251.

Implementing it is not exactly simple however. If it's the first time you are doing it, better read the above document thoroughly first and test in your lab environment, and see if you like it.

All the best!
