Netbackup VMware Backup - Windows Change Journal

If I am backing up VMware VM's using the FLASHBACKUP-WINDOWS policy type, with an OFF-HOST VMware type of backup (VRAY), then I assume the use of Windows Change Journal on the VM itself is of no benefit ?  Any comments ?

I am using CBT for the VM's, and performing FULL & DIFFERENTIAL backups.  I have 'lots' of files on this server, and am looking to get the shortest backup window possible.  I am using a VMware Mount Host which is SAN attached to the datastore LUNs of the ESX5 servers.  NBU 7104.

Any Comments ?

Firstly, ensure that 'Perform block level incremental backup'  is enabled in the policy.

For difference in Differencial and Incremental behaviour, see http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO44444

Ensure that there is at least 1 hour between Full and Incremental backups: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH129051

More useful TNs:

About reducing the size of VMware backups: http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO44443

If CBT does not function as expected: http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH129738

Hope this helps!

BLIB is selected in the policy, I will look into the other documents.

Many Thanks,

I have reviewed all of the technotes you listed, and I am performing everything as should be - so I am guessing that I am obtaining the best performance possible.

Just to confirm, the Windows Change Journal does not come into play here ??  In fact I assume it is placing an overhead on the VM itself which is of no benefit to me, so it should NOT be enabled - please confirm.
