Netbackup and LiveUpdate - No Error ,but no Work @!#:€

Thomas_Schulz_3
Level 5

I do not understand LiveUpdate for Netbackup.

I know now that Netbackup Client 7.1 out-of-the-box don't support the LiveUpdate util. Okay, than i use a NBU_7.5.0.6 Client for my tests, and the first Error 11 messages are gone.

My Problem is, that Liveupdate run's without any errors, but the version of the client is still the same -> NBU_7.5.0.6 ->, but i have installed the NBU_7.6.0.1 LiveUpdate Bin's and my Netbackup Integration runs with NBU_7.6.0.2

Where is my problem?

Hi,

what's your environment (OS)?

LU on Linux and Solaris uses a working directory which needs to be large enough and /usr needs to be large enough. In the LU log you should see problems concerning space.

The LU structure looks o.k. Did you try a manual update from the client on the command line:

from the manual:
nbliveup command (for local updates)

Windows systems: NetBackup\bin\nbliveup.exe liveupdateServerProtocolOverride <LiveUpdate_Server_Location>

UNIX systems: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/nbliveup -v -d liveupdateServerProtocolOverride <LiveUpdate_Server_Location>

Note: Do not run multiple instances of this
command at a time. Before you run the command
again, wait until the exit status message appears to
verify that the previous instance has completed.

Works fine not only for netbackup servers but also for clients.

S.

Master Server = Solaris10

Media Server = RHEL

LU Server = Wndows2008R2 with IIS7

And the LU feature is needed für Windows clients only, because our RHEL farm is managed by Satellite.

loori
Level 5

bit masochistic, the LU server on W2k8

Can you see the LU files when you open the URL in a browser?

Does an update from commandline work?

Thomas_Schulz_3

CLI is the same result -> 0 Errors and nothing done.

My testclient is a Media Server. Is this the problem?

loori
Level 5

If the media server is working LU can't stop the processes in time, so nothing happens. I'd get a VM for testing, or just the normal clients, as long as you can easily restart or reinstall netbackup.

Next Update.

Netbackup Client runs with Netbackup 7.5 and i want to update to 7.5.0.6 ( = Master / Media version ).

The job from the Activity Monitor says:

... and the LU logfile from the client says:

I tend to believe Netbackup in such cases. Please check the versions, and if in a browser you find at http://LU the new version. I use different paths for the different versions, sth. like http://LU/75, http://LU/7506, etc.
