Netbackup client for RHEL on IBM Power PC.

Hi All,

Customer has a critical application configured on IBM P Series Platform. Support matrix does not support this platform i.e. Linux on IBM Power PC.

None of the NetBackup version even to the latest one are getting installed giving error incorrect platform.

uname -a
Linux Hostname 3.10.0-229.ael7b.ppc64le #1 SMP Fri Jan 30 12:03:50 EST 2015 ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux

cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.1 (Maipo)

Not sure why IBM and Symantec have not worked together to support P series Platform.

Is there any roadmap or future for this support.

Is there any workaround to install the client on this platform.

Found few technotes but not sure it will help.

TIA.

Nope, z series is completely different with p series at architecture level.

I think primary OS for p series is AIX, so there are no plan of support of p series Linux. Years are past from initial release of RHEL for p series, but NBU client never released.

Consider to export backup target filesystem through NFS and let them be backed up from other supported client.

Think it is supported as the I have heard the IBM linux called zlinux and there is z/Architecture in the support list for RHEL 7. Check the 7.6.1.1 release notes as it seems to be have been introduced there.

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue
